On our first release for the new year we are proud to present another fresh face to the label, though Junior Gee isn’t new to the scene at all. Based on the South Coast of England Junior Gee has been involved in the House Music scene since 1996. But it wasn’t until 2009 when he really stepped up his production game with a stream of quality releases on Jon Gurd’s Killawatt label, as well as taking up residency for the label across the globe and hosting the label’s podcast show. With upcoming releases on labels like Killawatt, Hotfingers, Tokio Recordings, and Evasive 2010 already looks like another strong year for Junior Gee.
Obviously, his latest release on our label is another proof for that as he lays down two excellent underground house tunes guaranteed to shake the floor. „Just Listen“ combines deep housy vibes tinged with driving percussions making for a nice understated groove bomb. „The Smoke“ also delves in deep house territory while adding a more twisted vibe with some spooky trumpet and vocal cuts.
On the remix tip we have Australia’s Johan ELG who recently showcased his remix-skills with great reworks for labels like Lost My Dog, Southside Shuffle and Deepology. His take on „Just Listen“ works as a great functional tool with deep grooves galore and a straight forward loop-based arrangement . We hope you enjoy this release!
